Francisca lives with her parents on a farm where they breed animals. Francisca’s mother, a trained surgeon, teaches her how to remove the eyes of farm animals along with the legend of St. Francis of Assisi.

Charlies, a door-to-door salesman, need to go to the bathroom one day. Francisca’s mother allows him into the house, despite her more divine judgment. Charles draws a gun and assists Francisca’s mother into the bathroom. Charlie bludgeons his wife’s body in the bathtub when her father comes home. Charlie is knocked out and chained up in the barn.

Francisca buries her mother in the backyard with her father. Charlie explains to Francisca the thrill of slaying others. Charlie’s eyes and vocal cords are removed by Francisca, who gains them and sets them in the fridge. Charlie remains her sole friend, so he wasn’t slain, and she will take care of him.

Francisca’s father dies years later, and she preserves the body. While at a bar, she meets Kimiko, a young woman. When Kimiko and Francisca return to Kimiko’s home, Kimiko is terrified to find out that Francisca’s mother has been murdered. Then Francisca makes the odd joke that she murdered her father.

After Kimiko tries to leave, Francisca executes her, slashes her up, and bags her organs, setting them in her fridge. After bathing Charlie, still chained up in the barn, she transports him inside to sleep with her. Despite his escape attempts, Charlie is repeatedly wounded by the woman. Her response is he was right; preventing someone feels amazing.

As she wanders lonely through the woods, she meets Lucy and they receive a ride back to the house, distraught at being completely alone. Francisca kidnaps Lucy’s baby son Antonio once she extends the house.

After wounding Lucy, she praises her dead mother for forcing her to the pair, then keeps Lucy’s son as her own. The barn is where Lucy is chained up and has her vocal cords and eyes cut out, like Charlie.

Witnessing his mother go into and out of the barn, and having been told never to go inside, Antonio starts to grow curious about the barn when he is about 8–9 years old. Francisca enters the barn at night while sleeping and is shocked to regard his mother groaning unintelligibly in chains.

After escaping the barn, Lucy generates her way to a road, where she is discovered by a trucker. Her mother’s body is dug up by Francisca, who cradles it and relates the skeleton she skips her.

When she returns home, she follows the police coming to the house and rushes to rouse Antonio. As she takes her baby into the bathroom holding a knife, she screams the police will never take her child. The film ends with a gunshot.
